People have become really skeptical about the next big weight loss fad, after all, not a day seems to pass without some big weight loss “breakthrough”. It makes sense that people would be wary of weight loss scams, because many have been drawn in by a barrage of weight loss scams before and they don’t want to waste their money and time on any more false hopes. Green tea has gained a lot of notoriety as one of the next “big things” in weight loss. There have been a whole variety of health benefits proved about green tea, but can this simple drink actually help you to lose weight? Green tea will give you an advantage while dieting, but it isn’t a miracle weight loss potion. Green tea can help you with dropping pounds in multiple ways. First, green tea contains lots of different antioxidants. Cocoa, coffee, cherries and blueberries are some other foods you can eat which also have high levels of beneficial, disease-combating antioxidants. Antioxidants have lots of health benefits, including helping your body burn more fat and lowering cholesterol. Green tea also speeds up your metabolism by raising your core body temperature. Some of this effect is due to the fact that green tea contains caffeine, but studies have demonstrated that is has other fat burning effects. Aside from the caffiene, green tea has a type of flavonoid antioxidant called a catechin. Research has shown that catechins can protect against some types of cancer, stave off aging and has antibiotic properties when combined with consistent exercise. Catechins have also been demonstrated to reduce muscle soreness after resistance training. Green tea has developed its solid reputation as a weight loss aid for these reasons and lots more. For it to have an effect on your diet, you’ll need to drink somewhere around 2-3 cups a day.The Hype Surrounding Green Tea Green tea is not the magical weight loss elixir that marketing hype has hailed it to be. It is a fact that green tea can help you lose more weight but you can’t expect it to do this on its own without effort on your part. Lots of people cling to the notion that there is some magical food or pill that will burn fat without work. Unfortunately the idea that there is a magical weight loss elixir that will burn fat is just wishful thinking. Studies have shown quite a few positive health benefits to drinking tea, but it isn’t a cure-all for anything, including your rolls of unwanted fat. It will always be necessary to put forth lots of hard work, time and effort to get the attractive, fit body you’ve always wanted. Try to avoid websites and stores that primarily pitch the tea’s fat burning effects because they will overcharge you because of the attractiveness of these claims. There are plenty of reputable places to buy it that don’t overcharge using overdone promises.Since it is a common tea product, it is usually relatively inexpensive, so refuse to overpay for any special super pills that promise that you can shed weight while lying on your couch. Unfortunately, getting your fit and lean dream body just isn’t going to happen this way.Other Beneficial Facts about Green Tea Along with a consistent workout regimen and a balanced diet, green tea is an excellent supplement. In addition to adding green tea to your diet, increase your intake of fruits, veggies and lean meats. Avoid empty carbs, sugars and saturated fats. Replace your old sugary snack choices with more healthy alternatives like vegetables, fruits or nuts. Exercise using resistance training and lots of cardio. Incorporate more activity into your daily life in any way that you can . Try to climb the stairs if they are available. If you have the opportunity, park across the parking lot for extra walking if you have the time. Before you know it, these small efforts will yield large results. Tea can help some with your pound shedding efforts, but like anything else, it is a part of a bigger picture: lifestyle change. Also, keep in mind that you can consume green tea in lots of ways that don’t require you to brew a fresh cup.Try some of the many different types of candies, snacks, capsules and other foods on the market that have green tea weight loss benefits.

It has been found that certain chemical compounds in some foods and beverages are able to stimulate your metabolism causing you to burn more body fat than usual. Below are just a few easy things you can add to your diet to help burn off those extra calories that can slowly add up over the weeks.

1. Green Tea

Drinking green tea throughout the day can help you to burn an extra 70 to 100 extra calories a day through an effect known as thermogenesis which is the process of heat production in living organisms as well as providing numerous health benefits. Studies also suggest that the chemical EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate) which is found in green tea is responsible for the tea’s fat burning properties.

The fat burning property that green tea promotes is called thermogenesis which causes more body fat to get burnt to supply fuel for your cells. Green Tea increases the bodies energy expenditure and also increases fat oxidation which is needed to convert fat into energy.

A European study that ran over over 3 days, in which a total of 10 men were given caffeine, placebos, and EGCG (in the amount found in several cups of green tea). The result was that the men who were given the EGCG burned more total calories (80) each day while the other two groups came out equal.

Athought it does increase fat loss, green tea should not be considered a single solution to weight loss, but it does help in the reduction of fat tissue by thermogenesis which it has been proven to promote. Other than it’s fat burning properties, green tea has also been shown to be beneficial for problems such as bad breath, blood sugar, cholesterol, dental cavities and it’s powerful antioxidant properties help prevent cell damage.

2. Cayenne Pepper

The second wonderful metabolism booster is cayenne pepper which is made from dried ripe pepper caspsicum.

Several scientific studies have suggested that certain chemical compounds in cayenne pepper also have the ability to increase the body’s heat production (thermogenesis), thereby increasing the rate of metabolism of carbohydrates and fats similar in effect to green tea. Additional research also indicates that cayenne pepper increases production of certain chemicals in the body that decrease or suppress appetite.

For people that are on diets it has been suggested that adding between 5 and 10 grams of cayenne pepper to a meal or roughly 27 grams to an entire day’s diet will significantly reduce hunger after meals and reduce the amount of calories consumed during subsequent meals.

Cayenne pepper is also considered one of the healthiest herbs available. Use it as much as you can if you can stand the heat. Taking this super fat burning drink several times a day is a great way to help get your 8 plus glasses of water each day and to help shed those extra unwanted pounds.

3. Fat Burning Super Drink

A good way to take cayenne pepper is to put a small amount into a glass of green tea. This drink is considered one of the best natural fat burners and it has also been known to significantly reduce appetite in some dieters.

People have been drinking green tea for health promotion for well over 4,000 years. Medical research has confirmed what the Chinese have been saying for centuries: that green tea contains special health preserving and revitalizing power. It can speed up metabolism, keep your hunger pangs at bay, and keep you feeling refreshed all day long.

If we already know about this super drink, then why are the sales of soft drinks and Starbucks continuing to rise? My guess is that green tea is not one of the buttons people can choose from on a vending machine. We want convenience, but then we complain that we are getting fat and sick. Here’s the answer, plain and simple. Stop the insanity and start drinking the tea!

Green tea contains more powerful antioxidants than any other product on the market. Even Raisinets! (I say that because it is amazing how the makers of candy try to insult our intelligence by boasting health properties on their packages!) At any rate, antioxidants prevent free radicals from harming our bodies. This is important for our overall health and well-being.

Caffeine is a stimulant that is present in green tea in much smaller amounts than in black tea or coffee. In small amounts, it can be an excellent energy enhancer, but it is best to limit one’s intake, as excess caffeine consumption is unhealthy. Have you ever drank so much coffee that you get the jitters? That is not a good sign. You will not get that feeling from green tea, no matter how often you drink it. Too much is never a problem.

Not to get too hung up on ingredients, let us take a look at the health benefits of drinking green tea. It is a good thing to be aware of what a beverage is made of, but you do not want to spend all of your time analyzing instead of drinking. No one ever asks for the ingredients of a Big Mac, but people gobble them up knowing it is unhealthy. You already know green tea is healthy, so focus on that instead of what is it made of.

HEALTH BENEFITS #1: WEIGHT LOSSGreen tea extract increases metabolism, reduces cravings and aids in weight loss. Green tea may safely increase daytime metabolism as much as 30-40% and increase energy production, as well as a significant fat burning effect. If you have been struggling to lose weight, this should be enough to make you want to start drinking green tea today!

HEALTH BENEFITS #2: ANTI-STRESSL-Theanine is a natural relaxant and is an amino acid found in green tea. It produces tranquilizing effects in the brain, which diminishes stress, worry, and anxiety. It also allows the brain to focus and concentrate better. You will not get a drowsy or groggy feeling either. It simply calms you by helping to increase electrical brain activity commonly present when you are relaxed.

HEALTH BENEFITS #3: BALANCES CHOLESTEROLGreen tea lowers the bad LDL cholesterol while increasing the good HDL cholesterol. It also reduces blood pressure, reduces the risk of heart attacks and strokes and acts as a blood thinner. In a recent study, green tea extract prevented cancer of the breast, lung, liver, prostate, skin, esophagus and colon in animals. Drinking two or more cups of green tea a day may reduced the risk of breast cancer by 50 percent and the overall risk of all cancers by ten percent.

HEALTH BENEFITS #4: LONGEVITY & ANTI-AGINGThose who drink green tea often demonstrate a lower mortality rate than those who do not drink it. Why? One reason could be that green tea stimulates the immune system.

HEALTH BENEFITS #5: BONE HEALTHThe regular consumption of green tea can both reduced risk of osteoporosis while reversing pre-existent bone degeneration.

HEALTH BENEFITS #6: ORAL and INTESTINAL HEALTHDrinking green tea protects teeth and gums from disease and kills oral bacteria that cause cavities and bad breath. The polyphenols in green tea even promote the growth of friendly bifidobacteria in the intestine, improves digestion and prevents gastritis and stomach cancer.

I am sure there are probably even more health benefits associated with drinking green tea, but you get the idea that it is more than good for you. Before I became a green tea drinker, I had chronic asthma and allergies, low energy and I was 70 pounds overweight. Green tea did not cure everything, but it is one of the main reasons I am now medication free and no longer overweight.

If you are suffering from any of the problems I had, or any listed above, start drinking green tea. You will be amazed at how much better you feel, both mentally and physically.

You have probably heard about the health benefits of drinking tea, especially green tea. Tea has been known around the world for thousands of years as the “longevity” beverage. Tea has been drunk in China since at least 3000 BCE. Tea is part of the Camellia Sinensis plant, and comes as black tea, which is fully oxidized, green tea, which is un-oxidized, and oolong, which is partially oxidized.
Green tea has been harvested as young, healthy, dark green leaves, and then is gently steamed, keeping its green color and potent phytonutrients intact. All tea, however, is rich in tannin, flavinols, polyphenols, and several vitamins: vitamin C, vitamin P, vitamin K and vitamin B. True tea does contain caffeine, but in lower amounts than it is found in coffee. It is well known to help banish fatigue, raise energy levels and boost mental powers.
Researchers at the University of California at Berkeley have found that green tea is a great antioxidant scavenger, reducing free radicals in the body. Antioxidants seem to slow or prevent cell damage that occurs from exposure to excess oxygen by creating a barrier around cell tissue. Those who get lots of antioxidants in their diets seem to be able to slow down the aging process and avoid or at least put off the development of many chronic, degenerative diseases, like heart disease, cancer and diabetes*.
Moderate caffeine intake seems to promote good blood circulation, so if you have strong adrenal glands, the caffeine in tea in moderation might actually be good for you. Green tea has a lot less caffeine than black tea does. Even though it contains caffeine, tea seems to act as a nerve sedative, and can relieve headaches*. Tea also acts as a diuretic, and as such, can promote better kidney function*.
Researchers at the University of California have also found both oolong and green tea to help prevent arteriosclerosis, which leads to heart disease. Green tea has also been shown in many studies to prevent cancer, and to inhibit the development of pre-cancerous lesions as well.
The Camellia Sinensis plant is known to be antibacterial and antiviral*. So you can use your tea to apply directly to cuts and burns as well, including sunburns. And when drunk or taken as an extract, it seems to help boost your immune function*, probably because of its antimicrobial action.
Green tea is really a powerhouse of a beverage, and the polyphenols it contains have also been shown to support healthy blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol levels*. In addition, they have been shown to protect your DNA from damage that comes from chemicals and also radiation. This means that drinking green tea, and/or taking green tea extracts, can be very useful for all of us who are exposed to more and more chemicals in our modern-day world. If you live near a nuclear power plant, fly a lot (where you are exposed to high levels of cosmic rays), or are undergoing radiation therapy, you might want to consider adding green tea or a green tea extract to your diet.
Green tea extracts can be very powerful, as the antioxidants and polyphenols can be concentrated, without the caffeine. However, you want to make sure that you get a brand that conserves the polyphenols, as some green tea extracts don’t actually have much of this most important part of the green tea in them. We recommend one with around 100 mg of polyphenols per serving. If you can find one that is nanized, or broken down into very small particles, you will be able to digest and absorb more of the nutrients even if your digestive system is in some way compromised, like many of ours are.
Last, but not least, green tea is well known for its thermogenic effect, meaning that it can help your body burn calories. One study showed that three 90 mg doses of green tea extract caused an additional 266 calories to be burned every day. So if you are trying to lose weight, adding green tea or a green tea extract may be just the ticket to help with your weight loss.*

Herbal tea is all the rage these days and many people are jumping on the bandwagon. So are herbal tea antioxidants worth looking into? The answer is yes; research has shown that different herbal teas can provide you with antioxidants that are important in warding of harmful and life threatening diseases. Besides providing you with important antioxidants you can also receive plenty of other benefits.
Not all herbal teas will give you the antioxidant dose that you need to fight off cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, and even the prevention of blood clots. You have to be careful about the teas that you drink so that you get the right amount of herbal tea antioxidants. Herbal teas are a great supplement to an antioxidant diet.
Green and White Teas
Green tea has been on the market for some time and the health benefits have long been trumpeted by health food stores. Green tea is a great source of herbal tea antioxidants. If you smoke or sun yourself all day then this could be a great way to counterbalance these bad habits.
Free radicals are released into your body everyday by environmental factors such as pollution that no one can really help. Even being exposed to second hand smoke can put you at the risk of free radicals. Free radicals really need to be filtered out of the system as left alone you put yourself at risk for cancer, and other degenerative diseases.
White teas are also a good source of herbal tea antioxidants. In fact white teas are thought to have more antioxidants than super green tea. It even has less caffeine and can help you lose a few pounds. It has been found that regular consumption of green and white tea can speed up your metabolism and help you lose weight.
Fighting Cancer with Tea Antioxidant
Today it seems like so many factors can cause cancer. We are constantly being told of new cancer causing foods that we should avoid and eliminate from out diets. So what can we do besides existing on a boring diet? The answer might lie in tea antioxidants. Antioxidants sound like a strange chemical but they are actually essential to ensuring your body remains healthy.
The logic behind antioxidants is that in our bodies there are certain unstable molecules. These molecules are oxidants, or more commonly called free radicals, and can wreak havoc in your body. The way to get rid of oxidants is of course with antioxidants.
Redbush and Honey bush Tea
Redbush and honey bush tea or more commonly known as Rooibus tea is a tea from South Africa. This is another source of herbal tea antioxidants. You can reduce pre-cancerous cells or they can be eliminated when you regularly consume this herbal tea.
Another plus of this distinctive tea is that it is completely caffeine free. You can also get good amounts of iron, fluoride, and Vitamin C from this wonderful tea. The antioxidants that are found in this tea are thought to be unique and will help you to keep healthy and slow down the aging process. All that in one little cup of tea!
